CHRISTIAN WERE

Congratulations to Christian Were whose image has been accepted as the cover image on the upcoming issue of the Alternate Law Journal.

Christian Were is a Melbourne based artist.  However, Christian is a prolific traveller and, as such, his work draws heavily on the journals he undertakes.

Christian's work is a documentation of people; their realities, their psychosis and their dreams.  In traveling the world and navigating the spectrum of densely populated cities and sparsely populated rural areas, Christian actively seeks out the solitude that lies within his subjects.

Although sometimes bleak and melancholy, ultimately the aim of his work is to suggest the glimmer of hope that prevails even when circumstances don't otherwise suggest it.  Even when no people are present in the frame, Christian's work still manages to suggest the sense of hope that lives within us all.

The cover image is a temporary art sculpture located at the N Seoul Tower.  Formerly known as the Namsun Tower, the N Seoul Tower is a popular vantage point from which Seoulites are offered panormaic views of the city.

Christian's work typifies the work exhibited at Immersion Therapy artspace; a curatorial project broaching the cross-cultural phenomenon in contemporary art.  The emphasis at the space has been been on dismantling geographic and cultural barriers for Melbourne audiences.
